Cyborg Iguana

Embedded Systems Final Project

With Drew Cohen

Cyborg Iguana

The Idea

Our final task for our embedded systems class was to take an stm32l476 microcontroller and create… anything. Combining Drew’s love of iguanas with my love for robotics, we saw this final presentation as a prime opportunity to take some creative freedom in our design.

Build it.

We took our iguana test subject and replaced the fluffy inside with a microcontroller, 2 power supplies, 3 motors, and an h-bridge motor driver. Using an infrared sensor, we wrote code to decipher NEC protocol from a TV remote to control the iguana wirelessly.

(The motors we chose did not have enough torque to pull the weight of the iguana so, sadly, we had to replace the arms with wheels)
